In this project, two apartments combine to form a clearly organized, unified home with a confident point of view. Studio8 Architect colocated social spaces (a grand kitchen, a party-ready balcony lounge, and living spaces) on one side, and private areas (bedrooms, bathrooms, a generous, oak-clad closet, and other amenities) on the other, supporting the family’s desire to be able to seamlessly transition from conviviality to retreat. Throughout, Studio8 Architect applied a rich material palette of travertine and oak, and installed architectural lighting to illuminate the homeowners’ growing art collection. On the balcony, a living wall introduces biophilia—a welcome connection with the landscape that awaits just beyond the balcony wall.
